Around 10 fishing boats anchored at Ashtamudi Lake were tragically gutted by a massive fire in the early hours of Sunday, as disclosed by local police.
The blaze erupted in the Kureepuzha area under Anchalumood police station. Initially spotted past midnight, the fire rapidly spread, engulfing boats aligned in a row.
Efforts by local residents and fire personnel were swiftly initiated to control the blaze's expansion. A preliminary assessment indicates around 10 boats were completely destroyed, with a gas cylinder blast suspected as the cause, though it's yet to be confirmed. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported.
