The attack occurred while 15-year-old Shantilal was sitting outside his house. Alerted by his cries, villagers managed to trap the leopard inside a nearby house. Forest department officials arrived on the scene but were unable to intervene before the animal's sudden demise.
The leopard reportedly vomited before dying, with no visible injuries found on its body. The wildlife department has dispatched the carcass for post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death.
