Ukrainian troops have held their ground in the struggling city of Pokrovsk since mid-November, even as some units were ordered to retreat from untenable positions last week, according to Ukraine's top military official.

Commander Oleksandr Syrskyi reports they retain control over the city's northern region, extending to the railway line. Furthermore, forces have cleared and are holding roughly 54 square kilometers to the west of Pokrovsk, maintaining their strategic presence and resilience.

Syrskyi, quoted by public broadcaster Suspilne, stressed the importance of these controlled territories to Ukrainian journalists, highlighting the continued resistance and strategic maneuvers by the Ukrainian military in the area.
