Maharashtra's Mega Boost: Rs 32,523 Crore Development for Pune

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has greenlit 220 development projects valued at Rs 32,523 crore for the Pune metropolitan region, focusing on strengthening urban infrastructure. Announced at the Pune Metropolitan Planning Committee meeting, the projects aim to tackle challenges posed by the city's swift urban expansion.

The comprehensive plan features diverse initiatives such as river rejuvenation, construction of multi-modal hubs, and development of traffic decongestion projects. Among notable propositions is a 20-km tunnel with a projected cost of Rs 7,500 crore, enhancing connectivity between Yerwada and Katraj. The administration is also emphasizing the necessity of planned, coordinated urban growth to keep pace with rapid expansion.

Additional efforts include the completion of ongoing infrastructure developments like road projects, housing schemes, and pollution control measures in rivers flowing through Pune. Addressing road safety, a service road along the Mumbai-Bengaluru highway is proposed to reduce accidents near Navale Bridge. Efforts are underway to finalize the Comprehensive Mobility Plan soon, optimizing the city's transport efficiency.
