Certain parts of Jharkhand are experiencing a significant cold wave with temperatures plummeting below 10 degrees Celsius in nine districts, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

Districts including Gumla, Hazaribag, and Ranchi have reported particularly chilly conditions, with Ranchi being the coldest at 6.1 degrees Celsius, followed by Gumla and Khunti.

The north-westerly winds affecting the state's lower tropospheric levels are responsible for this weather anomaly, explained Abhishek Anand, Deputy Director of the Ranchi Meteorological Centre.
