Road safety experts have highlighted a critical need for innovative solutions in the realm of sustainable road construction. Traditional materials are increasingly unsustainable and pose environmental challenges.
At an event organized by the India chapter of the International Road Federation, Central Road Research Institute's director, Manoranjan Parida, addressed the rapid expansion of India's infrastructure and its subsequent demand on environmental resources.
To manage waste like plastic and steel slag, innovative technologies such as processed steel slag for road construction are being developed. Emeritus President K K Kapila urged continued commitment to infrastructure that prioritizes safety, efficiency, and sustainability, as road construction is currently a major pollution contributor in the country.
