Delhi's High-Capacity Machines Tackle Yamuna Pollution
The Delhi government has approved the deployment of advanced cleaning machines, including Finnish dredgers, to combat Yamuna river pollution. The Delhi government is set to deploy 32 state-of-the-art machines to address pollution in the Yamuna river. These include two Finnish multipurpose dredgers, marking a significant technological upgrade in drain cleaning efforts.
According to officials, the machines are expected to become operational by March, starting with the heavily polluted Najafgarh drain. The phased initiative aims to stop untreated waste from flowing into the Yamuna, thus tackling a critical environmental issue.
The machinery, designed for intensive tasks like desilting and sludge extraction, will aid in high-intensity cleaning operations. Officials stress the need for sustained action, breaking years of neglect with modern equipment and continuous monitoring.
