Innovative Partnership: SRMIST and Pon Pure Chemicals Launch Joint Oil-Field Lab

SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST) has joined forces with Pon Pure Chemicals Pvt. Ltd. to create India's first industry-academia lab for oil-field chemical research. The SRMIST–Pon Pure Chemicals Lab will focus on drilling fluids, product development, and bridging research with industrial application to foster innovation.

In a pioneering move, SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST) and Pon Pure Chemicals Pvt. Ltd. have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a joint laboratory focused on oil-field chemical innovation.

The upcoming facility, named the 'SRMIST–Pon Pure Chemicals Lab', will focus on developing and testing chemicals related to oil-field operations while promoting indigenous innovation. Pon Pure Chemicals will invest ₹20 lakh in the initiative through its CSR funds, with the total equipment cost estimated at ₹75 lakh.

This collaboration aims to strengthen the link between academic research and industrial application, offering students and faculty opportunities to engage in cutting-edge research and improve drilling technologies in India. SRMIST plans to introduce programs aligned with industry needs to further enhance skill development in emerging sectors.
