An elephant calf tragically died after being struck by a goods train in the Latehar district of Jharkhand.
The young elephant, part of a 12-member herd, was attempting to cross a railway track near Malhan village on Monday evening when the incident occurred.
Efforts to save the injured calf proved futile as it succumbed to its injuries on Tuesday. Following the accident, train services in the area were disrupted for several hours but resumed early on Tuesday morning, according to railway officials.
