In a bid to foster sustainable and eco-friendly transport, Telangana's Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy unveiled plans to support female college students with e-scooters, signifying an electoral promise taking actionable form. While not feasible this fiscal year, the proposal underscores a commitment to women's empowerment aligned with the state's overarching environmental goals.
Reddy outlined a comprehensive strategy to tackle pollution in Hyderabad, including replacing diesel buses with electric alternatives by December 2026 and encouraging EV adoption by waiving taxes. A ban on single-use plastics within Hyderabad's Outer Ring Road is also being evaluated, alongside relocating polluting industries.
The Chief Minister highlighted Hyderabad's ambition to rival global cities like Tokyo and Singapore, with redevelopment plans for the Musi River and a substantial economic overhaul. Confident in a trajectory toward a USD one trillion economy, Reddy simultaneously addressed opposition criticisms and praised women's untapped economic potential.
