A mild earthquake registering a magnitude of 4 on the Richter scale struck northwestern Nepal's Sudurpaschim province on Tuesday, authorities reported.

The quake, which occurred at 10:12 am near the Sitaula area in the district of Darchula, did not cause any immediate reported damage to life or property, according to the National Earthquake Monitoring and Research Centre.

Nepal is highly prone to seismic activity due to its position within active tectonic zones, making it one of the 11 most earthquake-prone countries in the world.
