The Delhi government has sanctioned nine new wildlife inspector positions to bolster its efforts in protecting biodiversity. This initiative aims to fill the gaps left by a single dedicated post, enhancing field enforcement against illegal activities and fostering urban wildlife conservation.

The Delhi government has taken a significant step towards wildlife conservation by approving nine new positions of wildlife inspector in the Department of Forests and Wildlife. This decision, announced by officials on Thursday, is a strategic move aimed at safeguarding Delhi's diverse ecosystems.

Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa stated that the deployment of dedicated inspectors would mark a transformation in environmental governance. 'Deploying wildlife inspectors across Delhi is a pivotal reform,' Sirsa said, highlighting the initiative's role in curbing poaching and resolving human-wildlife conflicts.

Previously reliant on a single inspector, the department's capability to manage biodiversity and prevent illegal activities was severely limited. The addition of inspectors, primarily recruited through the Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board, promises to strengthen on-ground conservation efforts, ensuring that Delhi's biodiversity thrives amidst urban challenges.
