The Public Works Department has unveiled plans for an innovative Artificial Intelligence-based software designed to tackle road defects and debris hindering traffic flow. The system, known as the Intelligent Road Maintenance Monitoring System (IRRMS), seeks to streamline road-related complaints and enhance resolution efficiency.
The IRRMS aims to provide a unified view of complaints, utilizing a comprehensive network of 1,500 CCTV cameras for data collection. This critical infrastructure will focus on obstructions affecting road safety and cleanliness, making city roads safer and cleaner.
A mobile application is also in development to support regular inspections, featuring geo-tagged video capabilities to improve accuracy in reporting and inspections. The project, which has a budget of Rs 32 lakh and a 12-month completion deadline, represents a monumental step toward modernized urban maintenance.
