A tragic incident occurred on Saturday as two labourers died when a crane collapsed at the under-construction Dahisar-Bhayander Link Road project site in Maharashtra's Thane district. The labourers, identified as Raghunath Das (38) and Kana Singh (45), were severely injured during the collapse and later declared dead at a hospital.
The Bhayander police station has registered a case of accidental death and is conducting an investigation to determine the exact cause of the crane collapse, including any possible negligence. Meanwhile, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has also initiated a probe to ascertain safety compliance at the site.
The BMC has emphasized its 'zero tolerance' policy towards worker safety violations and announced rigorous safety inspections and audits. Involving experts from Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute (VJTI), the BMC aims for a detailed inquiry to ensure no future lapses occur in its infrastructure projects.
