A tragic fire incident in East Delhi's Vivek Vihar has led to the loss of nine lives, including a toddler, officials reported. Early Sunday morning, a blaze rapidly spread across the second, third, and fourth floors of a residential building.
Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu and Chief Minister Rekha Gupta expressed their condolences, emphasizing the urgent need for medical aid and support for the affected families. "Deeply saddened by the tragic fire incident in Vivek Vihar Phase-I," Sandhu noted, adding that emergency services are actively managing the situation on the ground.
Gupta, in her statement, assured citizens that the situation is under constant surveillance, with Delhi Fire Service and other emergency teams engaged in the relief efforts. The cause of the fire remains unknown, and authorities have directed investigations to uncover the triggering factors.
