Rajasthan's Jaisalmer was recorded as the hottest place, logging a maximum of 45.1 degrees Celsius on Thursday, the Meteorological Centre said, adding that maximum temperatures are expected to rise gradually over the next few days. Dust storms are also likely in the Jodhpur division and adjoining areas for the next three to four days from May 7, it said. Barmer recorded a maximum of 44.2 degrees Celsius while the day temperature was 43.6 degrees in Phalodi, 43 degrees in Bikaner, 42 degrees in Chittorgarh, 41.2 degrees in Kota and 40.4 degrees in Jaipur. The day temperatures in other areas were below 40 degrees, according to the Met department. Thunderstorm and rain activity is expected to decline across most parts of the state in the coming days. However, light rainfall may occur at isolated places in the north-eastern regions. The Met department said maximum temperatures are likely to rise by 3-5 degrees Celsius across most parts of the state over the next two to three days. Meanwhile, light rainfall accompanied by thunder was recorded at isolated places in the state during the 24 hours ending Thursday morning. Bari in Dholpur district recorded the highest rainfall at 11 mm.
