The bustling city of Mumbai faces sweltering weather as temperatures soared above 35 degrees Celsius, recorded on Monday. Accompanied by stifling humidity, the conditions prompted the India Meteorological Department (IMD) to issue a yellow alert to caution against potential health risks.

In particular, the Colaba observatory reported a maximum temperature of 35.4 degrees Celsius, exceeding the typical norm by 1.5 degrees. Meanwhile, Santacruz observed an even higher 35.8 degrees Celsius, registering 2.2 degrees above average. The severity of the heatwave was noted distinctly in suburban areas, with Ram Mandir scorching at 39.7 degrees Celsius, leading the list of hotspots.

The persistent heat hampered nighttime cooling, with minimum temperatures also higher than normal. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation advised the public to take necessary precautions to combat the oppressive weather, emphasizing the importance of hydration and minimizing sun exposure.
