The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, has sanctioned a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the execution of the East-West Corridor of the Lucknow Metro, from Charbagh to Vasant Kunj. This key development was announced during a recent cabinet meeting.

According to Finance Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna, the Cabinet had previously approved the Detailed Project Report (DPR) in March. The project, with an estimated cost of Rs 5801.05 crore, will see equal investment from both the Centre and the state government.

The corridor, set to enhance Lucknow's transportation network significantly, had its cost approved by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs in September 2025. Formalizing this, a tripartite MoU between the Central Government, the State Government, and the Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited has now been approved, marking a significant step forward.
