Hot weather conditions showed no signs of easing in Haryana and Punjab on Sunday, with Sirsa experiencing a maximum temperature of 46 degrees Celsius, the highest recorded in the state, according to the meteorological department.

Extreme heat also affected Rohtak and Bhiwani, which recorded maximum temperatures of 45.3 degrees Celsius and 44 degrees Celsius, respectively.

Ambala recorded a high of 42 degrees, Hisar 43.8 degrees, Karnal 42.8 degrees, while Gurugram recorded a high of 41.7 degrees Celsius.

In Chandigarh, the shared capital of both states, the temperature reached 40.9 degrees Celsius.

In Punjab, Bathinda sizzled at 44.6 degrees Celsius while Patiala registered a maximum of 42.8 degrees Celsius.

Ludhiana recorded a maximum of 41 degrees Celsius, while Amritsar's high settled at 39.4 degrees Celsius.

Ferozepur recorded a high of 40.8 degrees Celsius.
