A tragic incident unfolded in Kerala as a 62-year-old man named Mohanan lost his life to a wild elephant attack near Athirappally. The incident occurred around 2:45 am Saturday, when he and two family members attempted to drive the elephant away from their residential vicinity.
The effort resulted in the elephant turning aggressive, leading to severe injuries for Mohanan, who succumbed on the way to the hospital. The area, bordering a forest, witnessed the elephant retreat after the attack, with officials ensuring its absence.
Efforts are underway to provide compensation to Mohanan's family. Meanwhile, locals voice their fears, criticizing governmental response to recurring threats from wildlife.
