A severe dust storm hit several areas in Rajasthan, drastically affecting daily life as visibility dropped to zero and compelled motorists to use headlights mid-day. The storm, fueled by an active western disturbance, impacted regions such as Churu and Jaipur, while Hanumangarh and Sri Ganganagar experienced wind speeds up to 56 kmph.
Meanwhile, the phenomenon brought rain to many parts of north India, including Delhi, Punjab, and Haryana, providing much-needed relief from recent heatwave conditions. In Himachal Pradesh, similar weather patterns brought hailstorms and rain, leading authorities to issue warnings about potential further adverse weather.
Weather officials highlighted the role of a cyclonic circulation boosting instability across the region, with Delhi expected to see winds gusting up to 100 kmph. In Punjab and Haryana, temperatures dropped significantly, offering a respite from the recent sweltering summer heat.
Uttar Pradesh, too, reported cooler temperatures as rain helped to ease the heat. While some regions saw measurable rainfall, others like Lucknow experienced temperatures notably lower than average for this time of year.
