Tensions Escalate at Zaporizhzhia: Drone Strikes and Ceasefire Challenges
A Ukrainian drone allegedly struck Russian engineers demining near the Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant, injuring three people. This incident occurred amidst a U.N.-brokered ceasefire aimed at restoring the plant's power lines. Accusations of military actions compromising safety continue between Russia and Ukraine.
A Ukrainian drone reportedly targeted Russian engineers working to clear mines around the Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant, leaving three injured, two of whom are in serious condition, as stated by Rosatom.
This attack transpired during a ceasefire arranged by the International Atomic Energy Agency to facilitate repairs on the main power line. Both Russia and Ukraine accuse each other of compromising nuclear safety.
The Zaporizhzhia facility, which relies on external power to prevent nuclear fuel from overheating, has faced repeated disruptions. It currently operates on diesel generators after attacks severed its power lines again.
