White Sox manager Renteria out at least two more games

Chicago White Sox manager Rick Renteria was released from a Minneapolis hospital on Tuesday afternoon but will miss at least two more games, the club announced.

Renteria, 56, was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center prior to the White Sox's Monday road game against the Minnesota Twins after feeling light-headed.

The team didn't divulge a diagnosis but said Renteria would undergo further testing at Rush University Medical Center after he returns to Chicago on Wednesday.

Renteria spoke to acting manager Joe McEwing numerous times on Tuesday via phone.

"I told him, 'Don't worry about it. We've got this. Don't worry about it. Worry about yourself and getting healthy,'" McEwing told reporters prior to Tuesday's home game against the Twins. "That's where our mindset is."

The White Sox are hosting the Twins on Tuesday and Wednesday after making up a snowed-out game from April on Monday in Minnesota. Chicago opens a four-game series against the Tigers on Thursday in Detroit.

As McEwing prepared to run the club for the second straight game, he said, "First things first. Our thoughts are with Ricky. He's an amazing person, an amazing leader. He sounds great. He's a very tough individual.

"Once again, I'm more worried about him as an individual. He loves the organization and he loves this city and positive things are going to come out of today. I'm sure he wishes he could be here, but it's just worried about him and gets healthy."

Also, All-Star first baseman Jose Abreu was scratched from White Sox's starting lineup Tuesday due to lower abdominal pain.

"He reported today, he has some lower abdominal pain," McEwing said. "He's getting treated and we'll see where he's at later on."
