Carolina Hurricanes center Victor Rask will be sidelined indefinitely after surgery to repair two cut fingers on his right hand.

The team said Rask cut the fourth and fifth fingers on the hand while slicing food in a kitchen incident in his home in Raleigh.

Rask underwent surgery at Raleigh Orthopaedic, according to the team.

Rask, 25, had 14 goals and 17 assists in 71 games last season. He suffered a season-ending shoulder injury on March 20.

Rask has 157 career points (62 goals, 95 assists) in 313 career games.
