Edmonton Oilers defenseman Darnell Nurse ended his brief holdout and signed a two-year deal worth a reported $6.4 million, multiple media outlets said Monday.
Nurse, a restricted free agent, had missed four days of practice. The Oilers open their preseason schedule Monday night at Calgary. The regular season starts on Oct. 6.
He came to terms with the Oilers one day after the Winnipeg Jets signed defenseman Josh Morrissey to a two-year, $6.3 million deal. Both players are 23 years old and both scored 26 points in 2017-18.
Nurse played in all 82 games last season, tallying six goals and 20 assists. A first-round draft pick (seventh overall) in 2013, he has 47 career points (14 goals, 33 assists) in 197 games.
