Stephen Curry capped a game-high, 32-point performance with a key three-point play with 1:46 remaining Tuesday night, helping the host Golden State Warriors hold off the Russell Westbrook-less Oklahoma City Thunder 108-100 in the second half of the NBA's opening-night doubleheader. Kevin Durant dropped in 27 points for the Warriors, who overcame 7-for-26 shooting from 3-point range to win on opening night for the first time in three seasons.

NHL roundup: McDavid sets record in Oilers' OT win

Darnell Nurse scored at 1:25 of overtime as the Edmonton Oilers rallied to beat the host Winnipeg Jets 5-4 Tuesday night behind a record-setting performance from Connor McDavid. Boxer Alvarez signs a $365M deal, richest contract in sports history

Unified middleweight world champion Canelo Alvarez and the streaming service DAZN have agreed to a five-year, 11-fight deal that will pay the boxer at least $365 million -- the highest-paying athlete contract in history. DAZN became the broadcast home of boxing in the United States after HBO announced in September that it is getting out of the fight business. The signing of Alvarez kicks off the DAZN-boxing partnership with an exclamation point and plenty of zeroes.

USA Gymnastics interim CEO quits after anti-Nike tweet

Mary Bono resigned as interim chief of USA Gymnastics on Tuesday, only four days into the job, after she drew fire for a tweet she sent criticizing Nike Inc's use of former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick in an ad campaign. Bono's Oct. 12 appointment was criticized by leading gymnasts such as Simone Biles who questioned whether the former Republican congresswoman was fit to lead the organization as it tries to recover from a sexual abuse scandal.

MLB notebook: Boston's Sale TBD for Game 5

Boston Red Sox left-hander Chris Sale was back with the team on Tuesday before Game 3 of the American League Championship Series in Houston. Sale, hospitalized Sunday for a stomach ailment, was released from the hospital on Monday. His physical condition was not clear, and Red Sox manager Alex Cora said before Tuesday's game with the Astros that Sale would be evaluated before the team determines his status for Game 5.
