LEVERKUSEN URGE CAUTION DESPITE EXTENDING LEAD Bayer Leverkusen's march to their first Bundesliga title picked up pace after they overcame a stubborn 10-man Cologne 2-0 on Sunday to open up a 10 point lead at the top of the table, but their manager is still urging caution.

Leverkusen made the short trip to face their struggling neighbours after Bayern Munich had slipped up in a 2-2 draw at Freiburg on Friday, and the league leaders took full advantage. They are still unbeaten since the start of the season, 34 games without defeat in all competitions, and with just 10 games remaining it would take a massive drop in form to allow Bayern back in, but coach Xabi Alonso is not celebrating just yet.

"It doesn't mean anything at the moment. We know the standings, we've done well so far," the Spaniard said. "But there are still 10 games to play, for us and for all the other teams. We continue to try to achieve short-term goals."

NETHERLANDS PSV PRESERVE UNBEATEN RECORD

It is now more than a year since PSV Eindhoven's last league defeat, at Emmen in January 2023, and they look well on course for a first title since 2018. PSV fought back to keep intact their unbeaten record in a 2-2 home draw against defending champions Feyenoord on Sunday.

They stay 10 points ahead with 21 wins and three draws in their 24 games played with 10 games left this season. Malik Tillman opened the scoring for PSV in the fourth minute but Feyenoord responded with goals from Gambia international Yankuba Minteh and Santiago Gimenez to go ahead on the hour mark. Substitute Guus Til, recently recovered from injury, brought PSV back level with 19 minutes remaining.

"Today you didn't see the gap is 10 points," admitted PSV coach Peter Bosz. "It was one of our least impressive performances but I'm satisfied with the result." ITALY

NAPOLI CLAIM FIFTH STRAIGHT HOME WIN OVER JUVE Champions Napoli may have struggled to rediscover their title-winning form in the current Serie A season but gathered just enough of it on Sunday to grab a 2-1 home win against record 36-times league winners Juventus.

Napoli, who humiliated Juve 5-1 when they last welcomed Massimiliano Allegri's side to the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium in January last year, have now won five consecutive home games over Juventus in the league for the first time. Juventus, meanwhile, have lost five away games in a row against a single opponent in Serie A for the first time since their run of six losses against Fiorentina between 1960 and 1964.

SPAIN MISSED OPPORTUNITIES FOR GIRONA AND BARCA

Girona and Barcelona squandered chances to close the gap to LaLiga leaders Real Madrid, who were held to a 2-2 draw at Valencia the day before. Second-placed Girona came crashing back to earth with a frustrating 1-0 defeat at Mallorca while third-placed Barca were held to a lacklustre 0-0 draw at Athletic Bilbao, two results that left Real with a comfortable seven-point lead at the top.

Upstarts Girona suffered their third consecutive loss away from home that provided another reality check to their lofty LaLiga title ambitions, while Barca were arguably lucky to snatch a point away from home against an in-form Athletic. Real will turn their attentions now to their Champions League last-16 clash against Leipzig on Wednesday, after grabbing a 1-0 win in the first leg in Germany.
