Pakistan all-rounder Fawad Alam emphasized the crucial need to nullify Indian stars Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah to secure a win in their high-stakes T20 World Cup match on Sunday. With Pakistan reeling from a surprising loss to the USA in a Super Over, Alam stressed the importance of pulling their campaign back on track.
Alam, who has had a considerable career with 19 Tests, 38 ODIs, and 24 T20Is for Pakistan, believes that Kohli and Bumrah’s expertise could single-handedly turn the game in India's favor. "As a team, India is well-balanced, and it will be really hard to get past them," he told PTI.
Furthermore, Alam hopes that left-arm pacer Mohammad Amir and captain Babar Azam would step up, despite Pakistan's underwhelming performance against the USA and significant challenges in their bowling department. Alam criticized the ICC for the poorly prepared drop-in pitch in New York, which had previously posed a hazard to players like India's Rohit Sharma and Rishabh Pant.
