Australian spinner Adam Zampa has revealed that withdrawing from IPL 2024 was a strategic move to better prepare for the T20 World Cup. By skipping the league, Zampa not only managed to spend more time with his family but also focus on recovering from injuries.

Zampa's impact was evident in Australia's 36-run victory over England at Kensington Oval, as the leg-spinner dismissed both openers, Phil Salt and Jos Buttler, crucially disrupting their solid 73-run start in the chase of 201/7. 'I made the decision to pull out of the IPL because I was tired and had some niggles,' he explained at the post-match press conference. 'Prioritizing family over work is important.'

Reflecting on his career, Zampa noted significant growth in his skills, backed by captains Aaron Finch, Pat Cummins, and Mitchel Marsh. Comparisons to Shane Warne have emerged, especially after his pivotal role in Australia's 2021 T20 World Cup win and consistent performance in big matches. 'I've done the work over the years to earn my spot,' Zampa remarked, emphasizing the leadership's support in his development.
