Pakistan assistant coach Azhar Mahmood has dismissed assertions of a rift between captain Babar Azam and fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi, contradicted the claims made by former skipper Wasim Akram. Mahmood stressed that the duo share a good rapport and are integral members of the team.

Responding to critics who question the players' off-field activities, Mahmood defended the importance of maintaining a balance. "We are a highly emotional nation, and it's unrealistic to expect players to remain confined and brooding over defeats," he said, addressing speculation around the team’s factions.

Mahmood also clarified why players aren’t regularly attending press conferences, saying that the support staff shares the responsibility. The recent backlash over the team’s dinner outing post-defeat was also addressed bluntly, indicating a need for mental relaxation.
