Alcaraz Gears Up for Wimbledon Semifinal Rematch with Medvedev

Defending Wimbledon champion Carlos Alcaraz prepares for a semifinal rematch against Daniil Medvedev, hoping for a victory similar to last year's clash. Alcaraz acknowledges Medvedev's current form following a win over world number one Jannik Sinner but remains confident in his abilities.

Defending Wimbledon champion Carlos Alcaraz is gearing up for a semifinal rematch against Daniil Medvedev. The showdown, scheduled for Friday, echoes their 2023 final-four clash, which Alcaraz won after dropping only nine games.

This year, however, the third-seed is adopting a more cautious approach. Medvedev enters the match fresh from a victory over world number one Jannik Sinner, whom Alcaraz described as the 'best player' in the world currently. Alcaraz secured his place in the semis with a hard-fought win against America's Tommy Paul by 5-7, 6-4, 6-2, 6-2.

'Medvedev is a really great player,' Alcaraz told the ATP website. 'The same semifinal as last year and hopefully I'll get the same result. He just beat Jannik Sinner, so I know he's in really good shape,' he added. Alcaraz emphasized the importance of self-belief and mental toughness in overcoming Medvedev, against whom he holds a psychological advantage with a 4-2 ATP head-to-head record.
