Primoz Roglic has withdrawn from the Tour de France ahead of the 13th stage following a crash, his team announced on Friday.
Roglic, who lost more than two minutes to his rivals after hitting the tarmac on Thursday, crashed for the second time in 24 hours. The four-time Grand Tour champion struggled to finish the stage with support from his Bora-Hansgrohe teammates, ultimately crossing the line 2 minutes and 27 seconds after the winner, dropping to sixth place overall.
The team's statement read, 'Primoz Roglic underwent careful examination by our medical team after yesterday's stage and again this morning. The decision has been taken that he will not start today, to focus on upcoming goals.' They wished him a speedy recovery. Meanwhile, two-time Tour champion Tadej Pogacar leads the race, with Remco Evenepoel and Jonas Vingegaard trailing him.
