Two-time Olympic medallist PV Sindhu and HS Prannoy were on Friday given favorable groups for the Paris Games starting on July 26.

Sindhu, who clinched a silver medal in Rio and a bronze in Tokyo, is seeded 10th. Drawn in Group M, Sindhu will compete against Estonia's Kristin Kuuba and Maldives' Fathimath Nabaaha Abdul Razzaq.

Sindhu could face a tough challenge from China's sixth seed He Bing Jiao in the round of 16, and potentially Olympic champion Chen Yu Fei in the quarterfinals. Despite a challenging lead-up, the 29-year-old is aiming for a third Olympic medal. Meanwhile, Prannoy, seeded 13th and making his Olympic debut, will compete against Vietnam's Le Duc Phat and Germany's Fabian Roth in Group K.

In the men's singles, Lakshya Sen, unseeded and ranked 19th, is in Group L alongside Indonesia's Jonatan Christie, Guatemala's Kevin Cordon, and Belgium's Julien Carragi. The women's doubles pair of Tanisha Crasto and Ashwini Ponnappa faces a tough Group C, and the men's pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty awaits a draw confirmation for men's doubles.
