IIT Madras Centre of Excellence in Sports Science and Analytics (CESSA) on Saturday announced comprehensive plans to transform India into a global chess powerhouse through advanced technology and data-driven tools.
This initiative focuses on improving fan engagement, offering federations anti-cheating solutions, and expanding grassroots chess training programs, according to an official release.
Revealed at the 'Sports Tech Start Up Conclave' in New Delhi and supported by Dream Sports, Vedanta, and SFA Play, the strategy promises to support various sports stakeholders, as highlighted by Sandip Pradhan, Director-General, Sports Authority of India (SAI).
Professor V Kamakoti, Director of IIT-M, emphasized the crucial role of AI and high-performance computing in aiding chess training. Future plans include launching specialized courses in sports sciences and management.
