Tottenham head coach Ange Postecoglou remains steadfast in his commitment to bringing success to the club amidst rumors linking him to the vacant position of England head coach. This speculation arose after Spain's crushing 2-1 defeat over England in the Euro 2024 final, which left England facing a trophy drought since 1966.
The heartbreaking defeat led to Gareth Southgate stepping down as England's head coach. Reports suggest various managers are currently being considered to replace him, including Postecoglou. However, the 58-year-old coach expressed his focus on Tottenham's progress. 'I am at the start of pre-season and am the Tottenham manager, so I have got nothing else (on my mind) but trying to bring success to this football club,' Postecoglou told Sky Sports News.
Postecoglou has prior experience managing a national team. He guided Australia to an Asia Cup victory in 2015 and secured their spot in the 2018 World Cup. Reflecting on his past roles, he added, 'I enjoyed my time with Australia. We won the Asia Cup and qualified for the World Cup, but there is always a natural end to these things.' Tottenham's pre-season began with a 5-1 victory over Hearts, and they are set to face Queens Park Rangers next at Loftus Road.
