Borussia Dortmund finally completed the signing of Guinea forward Serhou Guirassy from Bundesliga rival Stuttgart on Thursday after an injury-related delay.
Delayed by an injury sustained while playing for Guinea, Guirassy's transfer was in limbo until Dortmund confirmed that the issue did not require surgery. The team expects him back later this summer.
The 28-year-old forward joins Dortmund on a four-year contract, bolstering the team's offensive lineup after a successful stint at Stuttgart, where he scored 28 Bundesliga goals last season—second only to Bayern Munich's Harry Kane.
Guirassy is expected to compete for a starting spot alongside Niclas Füllkrug under new coach Nuri Sahin. At Stuttgart, he formed a notable partnership with Deniz Undav and contributed to Guinea's quarterfinals appearance in the Africa Cup of Nations.
His arrival marks Dortmund's second signing from Stuttgart, following Germany defender Waldemar Anton. Stuttgart faces a rebuilding challenge as it gears up for a return to the Champions League, having finished second in the Bundesliga last season.
