Spain Proposes 11 Stadiums for 2030 World Cup Matches
Spain's soccer federation (RFEF) has proposed 11 stadiums to host matches for the 2030 World Cup. Alongside Portugal, Morocco, and centenary hosts Argentina, Uruguay, and Paraguay, Spain will also have 45 team bases. LaLiga clubs like Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Atletico Madrid are among the venues listed.
Spain's soccer federation (RFEF) has put forward 11 stadiums as potential venues for the 2030 World Cup, including the home grounds of top LaLiga clubs such as Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Atletico Madrid. This announcement comes as Spain gears up to co-host the tournament with Portugal, Morocco, and centenary hosts Argentina, Uruguay, and Paraguay.
Additional candidates include arenas of Sevilla, Malaga, Real Sociedad, Athletic Bilbao, Las Palmas, and promoted Espanyol. Interestingly, Valencia's Mestalla Stadium, despite being the fifth-largest stadium in LaLiga, was not selected.
According to RFEF, selecting the venues involved analyzing several possibilities, including expanding the list to 13, a decision requiring unanimous approval from the federations involved. The tournament aims to feature a maximum of 20 venues. Meanwhile, Morocco has announced plans to construct a new stadium near Casablanca and upgrade six others ahead of the World Cup.
