The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) vice-president, Rajeev Shukla, extended his best wishes to the Indian contingent gearing up for the Paris Olympics, expressing strong confidence in their performance at the Summer Games. India, represented by 117 athletes, aims to surpass its previous medal tally records.

In a show of support, BCCI secretary Jay Shah announced a significant contribution of Rs 8.5 crore to the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) to back the Indian athletes. This financial assistance underlines the BCCI's commitment to bolstering India's efforts at the Paris Olympics 2024.

Rajeev Shukla, speaking to ANI, conveyed his optimism about India's chances, stating, 'Our athletes, our contingent, is going there. Best wishes to them for winning more and more medals - more than 20 medals. We have provided Rs 8.5 crore. I am confident that our athletes will do very well.' Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini echoed similar sentiments, particularly highlighting the potential of the 25 athletes from the state to significantly contribute to India's medal tally.

Offering greetings to the entire Indian team, Saini remarked, 'You are representing India at the biggest stage of sports. The whole country has high expectations from you regarding the Paris Olympics 2024. To the 25 athletes from Haryana, I believe you will play a key role in the medal tally of the country,' he told ANI.

Notably, two-time Olympic medallist and 2019 World Champion in badminton PV Sindhu will be India's female flag-bearer alongside veteran table tennis player Sharath Kamal. The experienced shooter Gagan Narang will serve as the Chef-de-Mission of the Indian contingent.

The opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics is scheduled for Friday at 11 pm (IST), where 78 Indian athletes and officials from 12 disciplines will partake in the Parade of Nations.
