Balraj Panwar Advances to Quarterfinals in Paris 2024 Rowing Event
India's Balraj Panwar secured a spot in the quarterfinals of the men's single sculls rowing competition at the Paris Olympics by finishing second in Repechage 2. Panwar clocked 7 minutes 12.41 seconds, trailing Monaco's Quentin Antognelli. The quarterfinals are scheduled for Tuesday.
India's Balraj Panwar advanced to the quarterfinals of the men's single sculls rowing event at the Paris Olympics after completing Repechage 2 in 7 minutes 12.41 seconds. He was second to Monaco's Quentin Antognelli, who posted a time of 7:10:00. Indonesia's Memo secured the third place with 7:19:60.
The top two finishers from each repechage qualifying for the quarterfinals scheduled on Tuesday.
Panwar maintained steady progress, crossing the 500m mark in 1:44:13, the 1000m mark in 3:33:94, and the 1500m mark in 5:23:22, before completing the 2000m distance in 7:12.41.
Earlier, Panwar had finished fourth in the men's singles scull event on Saturday with a time of 7:07:11, securing his place in the repechage round. In Repechage 1, Slovenia's Ivan Isak Zvegelj and Paraguay's Javier Insfran clinched the top two spots with times of 7:06:90 and 7:08:29, respectively.
In Repechage 3, Algeria's Ali Sid Boudina finished first with 7:10:23, closely followed by Chun Win Chiu with 7:12:94, both advancing to the quarterfinals as well.
