Indian golf star Arjun Atwal soared to third place in the Senior Open with an impressive 5-under 67 in the third round.
After a challenging start with a 3-over 75 on day one, Atwal rebounded dramatically, delivering a series of stellar performances including a 4-under 68 on the second day and a 5-under 67 on the third.
Atwal's total score of six under par puts him just two shots behind current leader KJ Choi of South Korea and one shot behind second-placed Australian Richard Green. The final round promises intense competition with 18 holes left to play.
Notably, Atwal is the only Indian to have ever won on the PGA Tour, a feat he achieved in 2010. His current performance has invigorated hopes of an Indian victory in a Senior Major.
Among other Indian golfers, Jeev Milkha Singh is tied at 52nd place while Jyoti Randhawa and Daniel Chopra did not make the cut.
