Britain's George Russell emerged victorious at the Belgian Grand Prix on Sunday, securing a Mercedes one-two finish with seven-time Formula One champion Lewis Hamilton.

Russell's strategic one-stop pit approach caught everyone off guard, while McLaren's Oscar Piastri, fresh from his maiden F1 win in Hungary, finished third. Championship leader Max Verstappen, facing a 10-place grid penalty for taking on a fifth engine, started from 11th and finished fifth.

Hamilton looked poised to win his fifth Belgian GP after overtaking Red Bull's Sergio Perez and Ferrari's Charles Leclerc early in the race. However, Russell's early pit stop and tire strategy saw him through to victory. Piastri's final pit stop cost him precious seconds, leaving him in third place. Russell celebrated his second win of the season and praised his team for the combined effort.
