Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh Secure Historic Olympic Bronze
Manu Bhaker made history by winning two Olympic medals in a single edition of the Games, teaming with Sarabjot Singh to clinch the 10m air pistol mixed team bronze. This marked major milestones in both of their careers and represented a significant achievement for Indian women's sports.
In a landmark achievement, Manu Bhaker became the first Indian athlete in the post-independence era to win two Olympic medals in a single edition of the Games, teaming up with Sarabjot Singh to clinch the 10m air pistol mixed team bronze on Tuesday.
The duo defeated Korea’s Lee Wonoho and Oh Yeh Jin 16-10 at Chateauroux's shooting range, earning India its second medal of the event. Bhaker had snared the women’s 10m air pistol bronze on Sunday, a significant comeback from her challenging debut at Tokyo 2020 where her equipment malfunctioned.
The bronze medal also served as a redemption for Sarabjot, who had narrowly missed the men's 10m air pistol final. The victory is particularly significant for Indian women's sports and both athletes expressed gratitude and pride in their performance.
