India Triumphs Over Ireland in Men's Hockey at Paris Olympics

Reigning bronze medallist India defeated Ireland 2-0 to strengthen their standing in the challenging Pool B of the men's hockey competition at the Paris Olympics on Tuesday. Skipper Harmanpreet Singh was the hero, converting a penalty stroke and a penalty corner in the 11th and 19th minutes respectively.
India's campaign has been strong; they opened with a 3-2 win over New Zealand and a 1-1 draw with Argentina. Unlike their previous matches, India took an offensive stance early on against Ireland, earning their first penalty corner within two minutes, although Harmanpreet's initial attempt was blocked.
The team succeeded with a penalty stroke in the 11th minute, following a foul after fine play from Gurjant Singh and Mandeep Singh. Another penalty corner in the 19th minute saw Harmanpreet convert decisively. India is set to face reigning champions Belgium on Thursday, followed by a clash against Australia on Friday.
