Indian badminton heavyweights PV Sindhu and Lakshya Sen surged into the pre-quarterfinals of the women's and men's singles events at the Paris Olympics after securing dominant victories on Wednesday.

World No. 13 HS Prannoy, a bronze medallist at both the world championships and Asian Games, overcame a spirited challenge from World No. 70 Le Duc Phat of Vietnam in a grueling 62-minute match, ultimately winning 16-21, 21-11, 21-12.

Sindhu, who is seeking an unprecedented third Olympic medal, easily defeated Estonia's Kristin Kuuba 21-5, 21-10, while Sen delivered a stunning performance to overpower Indonesia's world number 4 Jonatan Christie 21-18, 21-12.
