Mahabs Point Break Challenge, a significant event in the National Surf Series 2024, will take place on August 1-2 at Mamallapuram’s scenic Bay of Bengal shores, near the historic Shore Temple. The event will feature India’s elite surfers competing fiercely for supremacy.

Mahabs Point’s reputation as one of India’s premier right-hand point breaks makes it an ideal venue for showcasing top-tier surfing. Spectators can anticipate thrilling rides and spectacular moves. In the Men's Open category, Ramesh Budihal will attempt a hat-trick of titles, facing tough competition from surfers like Srikanth D, Ajeesh Ali, Harish M, Sivaraj Babu, and Sanjay S, all of whom are strong contenders.

Rising stars like Kishore Kumar and Tayin Arun, advancing from the U-16 to the Men's Open category, will also raise the stakes. In the Women's Open, national leader Kamali P aims to clinch her home break victory, with Sugar Shanthi Banarse needing a win to stay in contention. Both are part of the Indian squad for the Asian Surfing Championship.

The event sees 76 surfers from Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Goa, and Mumbai competing across various categories. The Surfing Federation of India's President, Arun Vasu, praised the Tamil Nadu government and Sports Development Authority for their support, highlighting the growing quality and fierce competition in Indian surfing.
