Borussia Dortmund Acquires Midfielder Pascal Gross from Brighton
Borussia Dortmund has signed Pascal Gross from Brighton & Hove Albion, marking the end of his impressive seven-season tenure with the Premier League club. Gross joined Brighton in 2017 and has contributed significantly to their success. His move back to the Bundesliga is expected to add new dimensions to Dortmund's team.
Borussia Dortmund have signed Germany midfielder Pascal Gross from Brighton & Hove Albion, as confirmed by both clubs on Thursday. Gross has inked a two-year deal with the Bundesliga giants, leaving Brighton after a seven-year stint in the Premier League, during which he made 261 appearances and scored 32 goals.
Brighton chairman Tony Bloom remarked, "In terms of his contribution on the pitch, Pascal goes down as the club's greatest-ever Premier League signing. He has been with us since the start of the Premier League era and has been such a superb player for us."
Gross, aged 33, became Brighton's first signing post their Premier League promotion in 2017, joining after FC Ingolstadt's relegation from the Bundesliga. Borussia's sporting director Sebastian Kehl commented, "We are very happy that we can bring Pascal back to the Bundesliga. With his calmness on the ball, outstanding passing, positional play, and versatility, he gives our team new facets."
In 2023, Gross made his international debut and has earned eight caps for Germany, scoring one goal. He was included in the German squad for Euro 2024, where he came off the bench in their opening 5-1 win over Scotland.
