The Indian Men's Hockey Team is set to face off against Great Britain in the quarterfinals of the Paris Olympics 2024 on Sunday. This follows a noteworthy 3-2 victory over Australia in their final Pool B match, marking their first Olympic win against Australia since the 1972 Munich Games.
With the win, India secured the second spot in their group and advanced to the next stage of the tournament, where they will compete with Great Britain. The other quarterfinal fixtures will see Belgium taking on Spain, the Netherlands facing Australia, and Germany playing against Argentina.
Strikingly, all four quarterfinal matchups mirror those at the Tokyo Olympics. India began their campaign with a thrilling 3-2 win over New Zealand and followed it up with a 1-1 draw against Argentina, thanks to a late goal by skipper Harmanpreet Singh. They then secured a 2-0 victory over Ireland before falling 2-1 to reigning champions Belgium, despite a goal from Abhishek.
