The "middle" Sunday of the Games sees the final day of swimming events, the hotly-anticipated men's 100 meters final in athletics, and Novak Djokovic vying for an Olympic gold to complete his trophy collection. Meanwhile, concerns over the Seine's water quality resurfaced after triathlon training was canceled due to heavy rains making the water unsafe.

Paris Olympics organizers canceled Sunday's swimming session for the triathlon mixed relay event after tests indicated water quality did not meet the required standards following rain on July 31 and August 1. The event is still scheduled for Monday.

The men's 100 meters, a hallmark of the Games, is set for later on Sunday. The United States' Noah Lyles, chasing a rare Olympic sprint double, faces tough competition after being outpaced by Britain's Louie Hinchliffe in the heats and with Jamaica's Kishane Thompson in top form.
