Xavi Simons Returns to RB Leipzig on Season-Long Loan from PSG

Dutch international Xavi Simons has rejoined RB Leipzig on a season-long loan from Paris Saint Germain, opting for the German club over potential moves to Bayern Munich and Manchester United. Simons continues to impress, with 10 goals and 15 assists in 43 appearances last season.

In a confirmed move, Dutch international Xavi Simons has rejoined RB Leipzig for a season-long loan from Paris Saint Germain, ending weeks of speculation about his future. The Bundesliga club announced the agreement on Monday, putting an end to rumors of potential transfers to Bayern Munich and Manchester United.

The official statement from Leipzig read, "Speculation surrounding Xavi's future can finally be put to rest, with the Netherlands international (20 senior caps) returning to the Red Bulls for the new season. RB Leipzig will loan the 21-year-old from French giants Paris Saint-Germain for another year." Simons is set to complete a medical exam and will train individually before joining the team.

Bayern Munich had publicly praised Simons, especially after his striking performances for the Netherlands at Euro 2024. Bayern's sporting director, Christoph Freund, described him as an "exceptionally good player" with an admirable mentality and character. Despite the interest, Simons chose RB Leipzig, where he felt more secure in his role, according to Sky Germany's earlier reports. Last season, Simons scored 10 goals and provided 15 assists in 43 appearances for Leipzig.

Simons began his career at Barcelona's La Masia academy and joined PSG in July 2019. After debuting professionally with PSG in 2021, he won both the Ligue 1 and Coupe de France titles. He moved to PSV Eindhoven in 2022, where he had a stellar season, winning the KNVB Cup and Johan Cruyff Shield and finishing as the Eredivisie's top scorer. Simons returned to PSG in 2023, only to be loaned out to RB Leipzig.

On the international stage, Simons debuted with the senior Netherlands team at the 2022 FIFA World Cup. With continued strong performances at both club and international levels, Simons remains one to watch in the coming season.
