Jyothi Yarraji Falls Short in 100m Hurdles at Paris Olympics
National record holder and Olympic debutant Jyothi Yarraji finished seventh in her 100m hurdles heat at the Paris Olympics with a time of 13.16 seconds. Despite not securing an automatic semifinal spot, she still has a chance to qualify through the repechage round.
National record holder 100m hurdler Jyothi Yarraji failed to secure an automatic semifinal spot after finishing seventh in her heat at the Paris Olympics on Wednesday. Yarraji, the first Indian to compete in 100m hurdles at the Games, clocked 13.16 seconds, placing 35th out of 40 runners.
Defending champion Jasmine Camacho-Quinn of Puerto Rico topped the semifinal qualifiers with a time of 12.42 seconds. The top three finishers in each of the five heats, along with the next three fastest, advanced to the semifinals.
All remaining competitors, barring DNS (Did Not Start), DNF (Did Not Finish), and DQ (Disqualified), will get another opportunity to qualify for the semifinals in the repechage round scheduled for Thursday.
